James Howard

I lost 2 days of fishing last week due to very high winds but was able to get back in the water mid week. Fishing with Emily and Lance from south Texas on April the 8th it was all about the Trout.

Having a high tide early that morning it was not in the plans to mess with the Red fish but to float fish live shrimp in several spots to try to round up some nice Trout…

The first spot was on fire. Every drift the corks were going down so it didn't take them long to catch on to the float fishing. There weren't many big fish but it was plenty of action. We caught Trout/Weak fish/Blues and a few Jacks until the tide started to turn. But for 2 hours it was non stop…

The last stop of the trip wasn't quite as active but the size of the Trout was a bonus. We caught several fish in the 3 to 4 pound range and pulled hooks on several more fish in the same class.

It's good to see the larger Trout starting to show up at some of my spots and usually by the end of April they are on fire.

Thanks for a great morning Emily and Lance and hope to fish with you again in the near future.

I have been fishing the Jacksonville Florida area over 30 years with many a memorable fishing trip starting when I was a kid. We are in between and only minutes away from Amelia Island and St. Augustine, we can enjoy the fishing any direction. From downtown to the mouth of the ocean and all the back water in between.
