Weak cool fronts and wind yes March is here. Wind can be a pest at times, the bright side is the spring mullet run is just around the corner.
The inter coastal water and rivers are producing plenty of snook action for anglers. Mangrove shorelines probed with live baits, jigs or top water spooks entice snook explosions. Bigger snook are being caught on edges of flats and near structure were current is swift and bait is plentiful. The full moon coming up will make for stellar sight fishing for snook on flats and around docks and sea walls at low tide. If you have never witnessed a snook inhale a bait your missing out.
The speckled trout bite continues to prevail along channel edges and up on the grass flats. Jigging works great but popping cork with a jig or live bait 18 to 20 inches below surface, and down periscope fish on. Trout are ranging in size from 1 to 6 pounds. The big female will continue to show up on shallow flats as the prepare to spawn.
Black drum are also being caught near heavy structure, but at low tides these beast can be sight cast using live and dead baits. A live crab or shrimp works great for the drum, a dead bait entices the blacks to engulf a free meal as well. The key is put rod in rod holder and don't touch until drag peels off.
Top water enthusiast big jacks will absolutely devour a Heedon Spook worked near channel edges and near dock pilings. These jacks are ferocious and schooled up in pods of 15 to 25, many of the fish averaging 15 to 20 pounds. Smaller jacks are around as well pck your poison either way your arms will be sore.
