Mike, Mike and Dan having a ball fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale

January 11th, 2013

Today we fished with Mike and his 2 sons Mike and Dan.

We started out kite fishing with live baits suspended from the kites and 1 dead bait also suspended from the kite.

Ok so now the trap was set and now all we needed was for some big sea monster to come along and take a bite!!

And that's just what happen when this big sailfish popped up on our right short kite bait. He chased our bait around for about 2 seconds and BAM he had it. Mike's son Mike jumped in the chair and the fight was on.

After a good 15 min of fighting this fish Mike had his sail to the side of the boat and we had the skunk out of the box!!

Ok right back to kite fish when all of a sudden this BIG silky shark (about 6 footer) popped up and just like that we were Hooked Up again. This time Dan jumped in the chair and 15 min later he had his shark to the boat.

We also dropped a deep rod and caught a few snappers along with 1 big boomer bonito.

Thanks again guys for fishing with us off the coast of Ft Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.

Great Gray Hammer Head Shark off the coast of ft Lauderdale

January 16th, 2013

Today we fished with Patrick from Minn, Jerry from New Jersey, Leroux from South Africa and Pabas from Penn.

We started out trolling on our way out and BAM we had this monster Spanish mackerel jumped on the line. As it turned out this fish was just 5 inches short of the world record being 37 inches.

Well this was one hell of a great way to start out our fishing trip.

After boating our big Spanish we went to trolling for small bonitos and that turned out to be red hot with the small bonitos biting the bait before we could even get the lines all set out there.

Unfortunately this was going to be the last bite we would have few the next few hours.

Fishing just died right out and while we tried slow trolling this small bonitos around than we tried kite fishing we just could not seem to get a bite.

Finally after what seemed forever the shark bait that we had set down on the bottom got a small bite. (At first) But this small bite we got turned out to be quite the sea monster and once he realized he was hooked all hell broke lose and line started screaming off the reel as if there was a fright train on the other end.

These guys all took turns reeling on this sea monster and it wasn't till a good 45 min later that we finally had this 400-pound plus Great Gray Hammer Head to the side of the boat. WOW now that's a nice fish!!

At this point we were so far from our inlet we decided to troll our way back and we did manage to catch a couple kingfish on the way back.
