A trip on Sunday 5/6/07 yielded 4 large snook and 8 redfish. After a while of trying to net live bait we managed to get enough to fish with. The tide was outgoing and we fished some small islands where the current was really moving good. Every bait we threw in was attacked by fish and attempts by some hungry seagulls! The snook were all over 36 inches in length and very fat. Over the last month or so I have been seeing a lot of well over the slot size snook, but none were eating. With the water temperature reaching the magic target of 75 degrees the snook bite has finally turned on. The snook are now heading to the beaches to have there summer time spawn. This is the time of year that monster sized snook are caught, and 20 to 30 fish in a 4 hour period is the average with fish in the 35 inch range and larger are caught.
