The Calcasieu River is in great shape right now" says local angler and tournament organizer, Travis Merritt. The water level is dropping and clarity is as good as it has been all year. Fish are being caught on just about everything right now including spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, crankbaits and soft plastics with cuts and drains the best areas to target. If the water is moving, Merritt suggest a shallow or med-running crankbait in shad colors. If there is little movement, many anglers opt for soft plastics.
