ABT TOURNAMENT/CALCASIEU RIVER

The Calcasieu River has given up some of the biggest fish in its' history the past several weeks. These quality bass has local anglers and game and fish officials encouraged about the river's recover from the past two hurricanes.

The Calcasieu River ABT winners were Shane Menard and Corey Lopez with 9.41 pounds, runner-up was Chuck Willis with 8.95 followed by third place finishers David Rabalais and Robert Weemes with 7.46.

The winners reported catching their fish north of Ward 8 on spinnerbaits and crankbaits in heavy stained, moving water. Second place stringer was caught in the between the split and Ward 8 on craw worms flipped around cypress trees.water. Third place stringer was caught in the West Fork on jigs and soft plastics along banks.
