Friday I fished from 9:00am until dark in preparation of Saturday's BFL tournament. With high winds projected, I spent the majority of my time in the creeks and pockets that would be out of the wind. I targeted areas from Waterfront up that had 4ft of water with scattered grass. Using the Excalibur Xr50 Rattle Bait I located some nice fish that were out of the wind and I also located some fish that was going to get hammered by the gusts Saturday. I managed to catch 7 fish (all keepers) with the best five around 22 lbs. and the biggest was over 7lbs. Unfortunately, two of my big fish came off the spot that was going to get blown away.

Tournament Saturday I was paired with an excellent partner (Todd Gordon). He and I tried the first area but it wasn't going to happen. There was 3-4ft swells and the water had become really stained, but we gave it a try for about an hour anyway. I then moved to the next area and immediately begin to catch fish on the Excalibur rattle bait (Rayburn red and chrome w/black back). We spent the remainder of the day there working it over and over. I managed to catch 12 fish (all keepers) with the best 5 weighing 17lbs. 13 ounces which was only good enough for 18th place. Saturday's weights are good indication that Guntersville is going to be very strong this year.

I don't have any dates available this coming week but I do have Feb. 26, 27, and 28th open the week after.

Bio: I have been fishing Lake Guntersville my entire life and I specialize in fishing grass on Lake Gunterville. Living here in North Alabama all my life, I have over 19 years experience bass fishing on beautiful Lake Guntersville and other area lakes. I began tournament fishing at the age of 16 in local bass clubs. Not long after I then moved on to the nationally known trails such as Angler's Choice, BFL, B.A.I.T. and other large local tournaments. If you want the opportunity to catch bass, learn seasonal tactics, and have a wonderful time on the water, then your search stops here. Bass fishing is not just my job, it's my passion!
