Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Mark White along with his friends, Lawrence, Rob, Mike and Brandon were down in Fort Lauderdale from Michigan to celebrate White's bachelor party and decided to charter the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Winds were out of the west at 12 mph, seas running 3-4 ft. with blue skies and temperatures in the mid 75's. The group wanted to fight a large fish.

As we left the dock, we stopped to purchase a dozen live Goggles Eyes from T&T Bait. Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy off of Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore.

We started out trolling and wound up with some Kingfish, one Tuna, one Barracudas, one Bonito. Now it was time to fulfill the group's request to catch a large fish. We set up two kites with two live Goggle Eyes on each kite and sat waiting for his appearance. As the black shadow appeared dorsal fin and bill out of the water, chasing the bait. The game was on!!! The Sailfish came out of the water doing spectacular jumps while the sun gleamed down on his silver and neon body. In a few minutes the Sailfish thru the hook.

From there I went out to 350 ft. of water looking for a Shark. With Shark baits out, we waited patiently but no Shark. Dave our mate, started bringing in the Shark bait. While the last Shark bait was 30 ft. from the boat, the dorsal fin of a eat Hammerhead appeared chasing down the last bait. Dave free-spooled the bait to the Shark and immediately he ate it and the fun began. All the young anglers took turn fighting the Shark; Dave wired the fish and brought him to the side of the boat; the Shark measured 8 ft. long. Pictures where taking and Shark was released to fight again.

All anglers retired into the a/c salon for the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
