The Jack (sauger) and crappie have been biting pretty strong for some time now, so I have been fishing for them. But, last Thursday I got out about 11:00 and fished until 3:30. The fog was terrible so I couldn't go anywhere, I just put the trolling motor down and start fishing. We caught two fish and lost/missed 4 others on Excalibur Xt3 Twitch bait and the Xr50 Rattle bait fish in 4-5ft of water around scattered grass.

Monday I fished with a gentleman from Texas. We tried Booyah spinnerbaits, Cordell Spots, and Excalibur jerbaits in many different areas. For the day we managed to catch 5 fish with 4 of them being keepers in the 2-3 pound range and had 3 other missed strikes. All our fish came on the break lines were grass and deep water meet. Water temps are 49-51 degrees, but the grass hasn't fallen to the bottom yet. We witnessed lots of grass a foot or so under the surface in 8 ft. of water. Once the grass falls to the bottom the bite will improve. Merry Christmas!

Bio: I have been fishing Lake Guntersville my entire life and I specialize in fishing grass on Lake Gunterville. Living here in North Alabama all my life, I have over 19 years experience bass fishing on beautiful Lake Guntersville and other area lakes. I began tournament fishing at the age of 16 in local bass clubs. Not long after I then moved on to the nationally known trails such as Angler's Choice, BFL, B.A.I.T. and other large local tournaments. If you want the opportunity to catch bass, learn seasonal tactics, and have a wonderful time on the water, then your search stops here. Bass fishing is not just my job, it's my passion!
