Orlando Muniz

The last couple of months have been interesting to say the least. First, the weather has been unusually warm for us as well as the fish. The warm water seems to have thrown off some of the patterns. We haven't seen the strong numbers of sailfish that we have in previous years. Even though, we're still getting at least one to two shots on most trips with some effort and patience.

On other hand some fish have been very consistent with the warm weather. We \have been catching nice gaffer dolphin on most trips. Most of the mahi are eating baits hanging from kites and intended for the sails. Mutton snapper have also been available throughout the winter. Besides the dolphin, muttons, and sailfish there have also been catches of bonito and kingfish over the reef. Cobia and blackfin tuna are also starting to make their yearly appearance.

As we head into Spring the action should reach peak. March, April, and May are provide some of the best action of the year. It is also the time of year when the most species are availble. Large dolphin, smoker kingfish, and blackfin tunas are the norm during April and May.

If the offshore scene isn't for you there are still plenty of tarpon and spanish mackerel closer to shore.

So if you think this action is for you give me a call 786.3266.0171 or send an email. omuniz@bellsouth.net

Tight lines,
