Had a charter on Tuesday the fourth of Sept. Like normal routine went out early to net some live pilcards, but noticed the water was very dirty on the flat I normally work. I decided to run the beach to look for a pod of bait. I noticed a large black knot along the beach that looked like a school of pilchards, but when I got closer I saw a couple of fins break the surface. I driffted right over the darkness, and it was the biggest school of black drum about 300 strong and all looked like they were in the 30-50 lb. class. I then decided to go and get some crabs for bait to go give them a shot. I picked up my people and headed back out to the beach with about a dozen of blue crabs, once we arived the fish never moved,so I put the trolling motor down and slowly made my way to them. I baited two rods with a 1/2 of a crab each and told my clients to cast right in the middle of the school.."BAM" they hit the crab instantly. We ended up boating 16 huge Drums till we ran out of bait. What a great fish on light tackle and a super time...

Tight Lines...
