The fishing has gotten back to normal this week after a long string of extremely cold weather. I started out the week jigging the deeper holes and shorelines with DOA Cals on a 1/4oz jig head and live shrimp on a jig head. We managed to get trout, sheepshead, jacks and ladyfish. The action was really good and the waters were warming each day. By the end of the week I figured I would check some wrecks for pilchards and it payed off. Fishing shallower points and deeper shorelines we caught a lot of nice trout to 23", big jacks to 10lbs and managed some decent snook. On an afternoon trip we caught big trout, bluefish, ladyfish, jacks and managed two nice redfish fishing tight to the mangroves in 3ft of water. I also fished two days with friends looking for redfish in the shallow bays and was pleased to see great numbers of fish. Most of the fish were over slot, but they were cooperating well eating live shrimp and Capt Jeffs Jigs. Overall the fishing is right on track for this time of year and it looks like we have a stable weather pattern for a while. I expect the trout, pompano and redfish to be the main targets till the waters warm into the mid to upper 70's. Spring tarpon fishing is right around the corner and I cant wait

Bio: Born and raised in Naples, Florida I have grown up fishing the local waters. Tarpon, snook, redfish and trout are what I target most often. Tarpon fishing is my main passion and from late March-October I target them if clients are up to it. Nothing compares to a 6ft fish making huge jumps and burning off 200 yards of line.
