Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Marc Laverdure, along with his two sons, Olivier and Antoine, from Canada chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep-sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Marc and his boys are avid fishermen in Canada and decided to try their luck here in Fort Lauderdale. As the family boarded the boat, I asked them what type of fishing they would be interested in, and their reply was, “anything that bites the bait”.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. If you venture off another ¼ of a mile, you would find yourself in 500 ft. of water due to our extreme drop off very close to our shores. We started off with two #8 planners on our deep lines, both with sea witches in front of double hooked Bonito strips. The tracers we were running were 85 to 100 ft. long. We trolled the reefs ranging from 80 ft. out to 200 ft. of water criss-crossing the reefs and going over some of our 34 artificial wrecks here in Fort Lauderdale.

The two brothers, Olivier and Antoine, took turns bringing in their catches while their Dad, Marc, took pictures and also joined in. With a total catch of 6 Kingfish, 2 Tunas, and 2 Bonitos, it was now time to head back to the dock.

The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. Once we hit the dock, our mate, Dave, filet out their fresh catches for that night’s dinner.
