Joe and Alexia chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team for a private deep-sea charter boat sport fishing trip in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  The anglers had a great day on the water and fun catching Bonitas with the Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat Team, Captain Zsak, and mate, Dave. We started the morning around 7:20 am and left the marina heading out of Port Everglades inlet with flat, calm seas and a little breeze.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, we were trolling in 100 feet of water where we put our lines in the water.  We were fishing with two deep planner lines with sea witches and four surface lures.  The deep planner lines get down about 50 feet.  Our first bite came early on, and after Joe caught the fish, he wired the Bonita to the boat and it went right into the kill box. Alexia was up next, and she caught a Barracuda.  She reeled and wired the Barracuda to the side of the boat.  The hooks were removed and the Barracuda was returned to the seas.  We continued catching Bonitas one after another with a couple of double and triple headers.

Next, we decided to try catching some Snappers.  The 1st mate rigged up a Grouper bait - he took a Bonita and he butterflied the bait with a drop lead.  We also fished a long leader for Snappers, which is using cut bait with circle hooks.  We ended up catching a Vermilion Snapper and a Yellow-Eye Snapper.

It was time to head back to the dock after a great day on the water.  The happy anglers retired into the a/c salon watching the plasma TV and enjoying the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
