On Saturday we had the best cold front of the year push through. I had a group of 4 from Homestead fishing with me .We met at the dock at 7am and off we went. We were greeted with thick fog, you couldnt see 200ft in front of you. We made our way out to bug light, only to find bait fishing was really slow. We decided to buy bait from Jimmy Lewis and not waste anytime. We headed out between Fowey and the Monument Bouy. I threw out 2 flat lines and began to slow troll over the reef. Immediatly we hooked up with a double header bonita.

The next 20 minutes of so were really slow. As I bumped us down the edge we hooked a triple header sailfish. We quickly pulled the hook on 1 but managed to land 2. Both Chuck and Mary were able to catch their first sailfish. I quickly sent out 3 more baits and worked my way back toward where we hooked the triple. It was slow until 10am where we hooked up with another sailfish. We ended the day early at 12 with a few bonitas and 5/6 on sailfish.

I have a few swordfish trips this week weather permitting, hopefully the swordfish will be snapping. We have the Bob Lewis Sailfish Challenge coming up soon, and then the Billfish Masters. I have recieved some good reports about the tarpon fishing this weekend. Seems like they are starting to show up and stick around. With the strong winds the next few days tarpon and sailfish are definetly the best choice. Give me a call and lets get out there!

Tightlines,

Capt Joe M
