Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Jerry Alblander, Gabriel Salley, and Don and Dustin McRae from Montana down in South Florida on vacation for some fishing and going on a Royal Caribbean cruise chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock at the Bahia Mar Yacht center, lines were in 120 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. If you venture off another ¼ of a mile, you would find yourself in 500 ft. of water due to our extreme drop off. We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down, one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a blue and white sea witch with a Bonito strip. For surface baits, we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips long. We trolled the reefs and had three swings and a miss on the plainer rods.

Left long!!! A good explosion on the Bonito strip – as the line singed off the TLD 25 with the rod tip bouncing up and down. Dave, our mate looked up at me and I returned the smile nodding my head and saying, it's going to be a Wahoo. After a twenty minute fight, Don reeled in his prize catch. Dave, our mate, gaffed the razor sharp, snapping jaws of a 40 lb. Wahoo and was welcomed aboard by the Topshotfishing team.

From there the anglers decided to do some Shark fishing. We went out to 350 ft. of water and set up for Shark fishing – with one surface, one midrange and one bottom bait. After a thirty-five minute wait, the Shark made his appearance and attacked the surface bait – the fun began. Dustin was the angler and he hopped into the fighting chair to do battle. A half hour later, the Hammerhead Shark was brought to the boat for picture taking and was released to fight again.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
