Over the last couple of weeks fishing has generally been on the slow side. Offshore it's been very quiet as far as dolphin or mahi mahi are concerned. Most of the fish being caught have been on the small side with many of them thrown back to grow some more.
During the day there has been some action while fishing the reefs and wrecks. Catches are consisting of kingfish, mutton snapper, bonito, and barracuda. A few late season sailfish have added excitement on some days.
Anglers opting to fish during the cooler nights have been doing well especially on yellowtails and mangrove snappers. A few boats have been fishing offshore in search of the mighty swordfish and hit the jackpot with some nice catches. Several fish in the 300# range have been caught lately.
Tomorrow, I will be heading over the Chub Cay in the Bahamas for a few days of fishing. Hopefully there will be a lot to report upon my return. If you're interested in fishing during the month of July or August give me a shout so that we can put a trip together.
