Anglers fishing with me on the Snook Fin-Addict, out of CB's Saltwater Outfitters on Siesta Key, had good action recently with trout on CAL jigs with shad tails and flies on deep grass flats of Sarasota Bay. In addition, we also caught a few snook, pompano, blues and reds.

Snook and Redfish continue to thrill anglers in the Sarasota and Tampa Bay areas. Large Spotted Sea Trout on the flats in the mornings and afternoons. Grouper and Snapper are still co-operating in and around Tampa while the Mackerel are slowing down.

Fishing has been hot! Anglers fishing with me on the Snook Fin-Addict, out of CBs Saltwater Outfitters on Siesta Key, caught and released snook, reds, trout, pompano, Spanish mackerel and blues the last couple of weeks. Anglers fishing with me on the Snook Fin-Addict, out of CB's Saltwater Outfitters on Siesta Key, had good action with trout and bluefish on deep grass flats of Sarasota Bay recently. In addition, we caught larger trout in Sarasota Bay and reds and snook in Gasparilla Sound in skinny water. Water temperatures cooled to the high 50s and low 60s early in the week of Jan. 19th, slowing the pompano bite that was going on prior to that.

Snook and Redfish are taking refuge from the cold in backcountry areas far from open water. The Tarpon bite in the rivers has slowed but still producing with patience. In Freshwater the Crappie fishing is improving while the Everglades is on fire right now.

On the grass flats pompano, trout, and bluefish made for some great light tackle action. Around docks sheepshead, mangrove snapper, and redfish were cruising the barnacle covered pilings for dinner - a live shrimp was hard to resist.

This past week has seen some good fishing in backcountry areas associated with area rivers, especially those to the north of Sarasota. In the Everglades we are seeing great catches of Oscar, Cichlid, and Big Bass.
