This has definitely been a summer for the books, with a cold water updwelling the Cobia have come off of the wrecks and made themselves visible for those keeping an eye on the surface of the water. Live baiting or trolling has been producing decent catches of these fantastic fighters and excellent table fare. King Mackerel have been extremely thick with most fish being in the 8-20 pound range, however the 30-50 pounder is not uncommon. Fishing depths of 15-70' with live baits or trolling drone spoons has been the preferred method. Just remember to not try to "horse" these fish to the boat. even though they have impressive teeth they do have a soft jaw and the hook will pull if you put too much pressure on it. Sailfish are still being caught and in really good numbers, catches of 2-5 Sails in a trip has not been uncommon. Free jumpers and those cutting fins can be seen on the calmer of days. Trolling has been the best producer for Sails the last few days. Dolphin have been few and far between however there have been a few caught while trolling or live baiting.

Remember this is the time of the year for afternoon "boomers" to come through the area so keep a good look out as to not get caught in these often powerful storms.
