[Fort Lauderdale,FL] The recent cooler weather conditions have had a positive affect on our Ft. Lauderdale fishing trips. That nasty weather up north recently has lowered our temperatures in the early morning to the low to mid 50s, and that has been good news.

[Sarasota,FL] Anglers fishing with me on my Action Craft flats skiff the Snook Fin-Addict, out of CB's Saltwater Outfitters on Siesta Key, caught and released trout in Sarasota Bay, snook and bluefish in the ICW near Venice and trout and reds in Gasparilla Sound near Boca Grande on CAL jigs with shad tails and flies during the past couple of weeks.

[Bonita Beach,FL] Seas have been calm mostly, allowing for some excellent catching offshore, with great variety of species. On rougher days, the backwaters are a good option for big, winter sheepshead, as well as redfish, providing tides are favorable.

[Fort Lauderdale,FL] As we now move through the second week of January it would seem as though Sailfish are on every fisherman's mind as they head offshore to spend some time Ft. Lauderdale Deep Sea fishing. That said we are managing a few more Sails than the last couple of weeks but they continue to be erratic at best. We continue to chip away at them having seen as many trolling (once again) as we have on the live baits.

There are few Sails in our area and other than a one day bite in deep water, and only an early bite at that, they are difficult to find. We again continue to chip away at the Kings typically managing a few for our clients. We have managed to land some Mahi-Mahi but they are not an everyday catch.

[Bonita Beach,FL] Grouper have been biting very well about 20 miles offshore. We released a couple of nice gags, and got to keep a few nice red grouper, now that their season is re-opened. Triggerfish, snapper, hogfish, porgies, porkfish, shark and goliaths also provided lots of fun. Inshore, we have beem getting some nice reds and sheepshead.

With water temperatures around 70 degrees, cobia have been showing up in areas of Sarasota Bay and the coastal gulf.
