Winter Blast Still Here On Lake Fork by Jim Reaneau (2/01/2007)
Well, the winter blast is still on here at Lake Fork. The lake Is steadily inching up. BUT!!! The water temp is going down. 43 to 46 is the range you will be working with if you come down this weekend. This weekend is calling for another cold blast of artic air this weekend. I would recommend lipless crankbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and jigging spoons out deep.

Well, the weather has been warm this week. But the weekend stands to show us that winter is still here. I hope the rain will be plentiful for all. The wind this week was a factor in where you fished. The main lake was almost off limits. There is still a lot of stained water in the backs of some creeks. I have been working points and half way back in coves.
Trophy Bass On Lake Fork At The Mouths Of Major Creeks by David Vance (1/04/2007)
Trophy Bass Fishing on Lake Fork with David Vance. Hello from Lake Fork, with the rain we got this past week the fishing on Lake Fork has been good on lipless crank baits. Red has been the best color for me, and water depth three to five feet over the grass. The best places to look for are at the mouths of the major creeks. Mustang, Little Caney, Birch and Pinson have been good this week.
Large and Small Spoons Working Well On Bass and Crappie by Jim Reaneau (1/04/2007)
Fishing deep water with jigs and minnows for crappie and jigging spoons for bass. Well, the rain has finally come to the Lake Fork area. I only hope the lake will fill up before the spring. This week the water temp was in the low 50's. The crappie were biting like crazy. 36 to 41 foot was the magic depth. Small jigs and minnows have been the best baits. Work the baits slowly

Fising Lake Fork Roadbeds With Jigging Spoons by Jim Reaneau (12/21/2006)
Fishing main lake points, humps and roadbeds with jigging spoons and small jigs. Well, the week has been slow with Christmas right around the corner. Most have shopping on their minds and fishing is way back on the back burner. We have had a mist that lasted about two days but no rain to amount to anything. The lake still is holding about 5.5 low. The water temp has remained at low 50's to the upper 40's. The deep bite has still been my best pattern. Jigging spoons, small jigs, and tail spinners have been the best baits. The shallow bite has been fair on lipless crank baits.
Winter Fishing Lake Fork Over Deep Main Humps by Jim Reaneau (12/15/2006)
Winter fishing over deep Main humps, roadbeds, and Main Lake Points. The shallow bite was about ¼ the way back in the mouths on main lake creeks. We flipped every piece of wood and it took many flips before you got a bite. Some bites were just mush. You will have to stay in tune with your line. If you are not paying attention you will probably not catch a fish.

Winter fishing before a major cold front Patterns and presentations for this type of fishing. Well, it is hard to believe we were in tee shirts yesterday and catching bass right and left. The fish were reacting to the approaching front. We caught all our fish on lipless crank baits from one area about 100 yards long. All this action will vanish as the temp has dropped to the low 30s to the upper 20s.

But the way things have gone it will probably miss us again.

Working grass and creeks with soft plastic worms. Flipping jigs along timbeed creek channels. Well, the fishing has been up and down this week with all the weather changes. The early part of the week the fishing was good and then the rain and wind came and slowed the bite for me. Thursday was back to normal and then last nite this very windy front came in and the temps went back down.
Spinner Baits and Wacky Worms On Lake Fork by Jim Reaneau (10/19/2006)
Fall fishing on Lake Fork with Spinner baits and wacky worms. Well, the cool fronts are coming in like they should. The only problem is they are not bringing enough rain. The fishing was a little tough this week.
Working Weightless Baits For Bass Over Grass by Jim Reaneau (10/12/2006)
Well, this has been a wild week. Cool fronts after another. The weather has been great this week except for the one day of rain and that was wonderful. We can't complain about rain with all the low water conditions. The long range forecast says it will be a wet winter. Great. Maybe this will get all our lakes full again. The fishing has been a little up and down with the temp swings.

Lake Fork Deep Water Bass Fishing by Jim Reaneau (9/28/2006)
Deep water and Wacky worm fishing. Top water around grass.Well, the cool weather continues to be a welcome site. The big problem is the fronts are not bringing rain. The lake is almost 5 feet low. The low water has not hurt the fishing but has made the lake dangerous to run. The boat lanes are the best areas to run your boat. The short cuts can be very dangerous.
