[Shell Beach,LA] After a week of bad weather we finally get a break. Got a call from Fred Thursday, he and his friend Sonny wanted to take advantage of the good weather predicted for Friday as they had to cancel last Mondays' trip due to the weather.

[Venice,LA] Starting the new year off right catching wahoo and tuna..Yet another great trip to start out the new year right..I had a crew from Jensen Beach FL looking for wahoo..and just as you would suspect the first fish in the boat turned out to be a yellowfin tuna..had two bites on the surface today and both were tuna.

More good offshore reports coming and no one is complaining about the indian summer either..already covered Thursday's Hunter went out with Roger, Frank, Manley and Wayne from TN and mopped up on the yellowfin..live mulet ws key to 8 yellowfins from 50-110 pounds in 3 hours and Friday was about the same..

[Hopedale,LA] Thick fog this morning and thick with fish too. We got right on the fish the trout were flying in the boat for 30 min nonstop then they quit. However, all we had to do was keep moving up and down the same area on the troll motor to stay in the action.

Charles Johnson and brother in law Steve from Natchitoches la come with me every winter and usually limit out every time but the only day they could come down I could not make it, So I called on Capt Kerry to get the guy's out on the water and catch some fish.

[Venice,LA] 14 yellowfins cought 12-7-06 on a fun trip. Finally a fishing report..when I thought about it, it was my first trip back in nearly a month..Finally a break...and what better time to cure the cabin fever, than an all out tuna slugfest..no better medicine I am sure of it..havent seen a showing like we did this afternoon in a while..very pleasing to the eye..it was on and I mean on..it's amazing how well they bite with a little rest time .....really didnt matter what you presented. It didnt matter if it even had hooks..at the end we were tossing Frenzy Ballistic flyers with no hooks just to see the fish blow up on them.

[Hopedale,LA] Reds to the left and trout to the right! First thing Capt. Shane and I took our crews back to the spot that we had been limiting out everyday but the trout were gone?? So with the colder water temps we opted to move around and see if the reds were schooled up on the shorelines. Well we hit a couple of shorelines catching nothing but big girls over 27" so after getting 4 in the boat we moved to plan B.

Well, with the specks pretty much jumping in the boat and the reds eating everything we throw at them this report is plain simple. Every trip that Capt. Shane and I have taken out for the past three weeks have been limits of trout (25per person) and reds (5per person). We have been fishing around the areas of Four Horse Lake and Battle Ground Bay.

[Hopedale,LA] High winds and cold temps did not matter to this crew. Allen Daniels and crew braved some super gusty winds the other day to catch a good box of trout. Met Allen at the dock with super windy and possible rain discussed the option of rescheduling NO WAY these guys were ready to brave the weather and fish, ALL RIGHT WE ARE ON!

[Hopedale,LA] High winds and cold temps could not stop these veterans from catching a box full of trout. Dennis, Eddie, and Richard were aboard my boat along 2 tag along boats today. These guys fish with me every fall and know the area but had not been out since the storm. We headed out into 20 mph NE winds BLOWING to say the least. Found some birds diving and got on some trout but not a whole lot real slow.

But the darn Captain was late getting to the boat. Charlie said don't worry he would not leave with out me. Well we hit the water at 8:00AM and got right to work putting trout in the boat.

[Hopedale,LA] With bad weather forecasted for the morning we decided to make ago in the afternoon. First stop picked up a few but not the bite I wanted. Moved around getting a few more. The East wind was strong and stopped the falling tide. The tide started to come I and that was the change we needed. Found the trout just off the ledge in 4 ft of water just out the current line. DOA and Bayside Shrimp along with the live stuff were doing the job.

[Venice,LA] More yellowfin tuna caught this Wednesday..Both Hunter and I were scheduled for day trips on Wednesday but I planted the seed of a possible nite trip with my crew and lo and behold they showed up early enough to do it.. Not to dissapoint I headed south and 2 hours later, jumped on the boat to meet them..weather was looking iffy for Wednesday afternoon and the thought of taking a shot at a sword also appealed to me..left out about 5pm making two unsuccessful sword drifts..conditions were perfect had squid and bait in the lights but obviously not in the spot..the main target was tuna anyway..

[Shell Beach,LA] We stopped with 117 Trout, 3 Reds, 4 Drum, and 1 Sheepshead on ice. The Trout ranged from 12-20 inches and there were several throwbacks. We also had a few big Reds that broke off before getting to the net.

On Wednesday's trip I had Randy, Jay, Jeff, and Greg on board. The wind was flat and the fog thick as we left Campo's armed with some of the prettiest shrimp to be found, each and every one of them guarantied to catch fish or die trying.

[Shreveport,LA] Water temps have been ranging from 63 early in the day to 69 later in the day. The lake is 2 ft. low, but stable. The bass are beginning to get more aggressive as the water cools and they will only get better with time. Most of the bass have come out of the grass and pad mix using a V&M Pork Shad(super fluke) in colors of watermelon/red and junebug fishing them over and through the hydrilla and pads on the creek and slough edges.
