Thanksgiving fishing in Miami! by
Jim Barlett
(11/30/2006)
Offshore fishing on the bottom & top, day & night. Thanksgiving weeks was a doozie. I took Tim Rodebaugh, his son, and a friend, from Houston Texas on Sunday and Monday prior to turkey day. Last year he fished with me about this time and it cost him a butt load of money. He ended going home and putting his 270TE WorldCat up for sale and bought a new 330TE WorldCat. Our main goal on this trip was to catch the Miami Duo (Sailfish & Swordfish in the same day).

Still finding a good kingfish and sail bite on the edge. Soon the tarpon fishing will begin and once the weather settles down the swordfish should pick up where it left off.

November Fishing Action Out Of Keystone Point Marina by
Dean Panos
(11/27/2006)
The past two weeks there have been sailfish, kingfish and dolphin. The new boat is performing flawlessly, and it is catching fish as well. The new Mercury Verados are actually a bit stronger and a bit more fuel efficient than last year's model. Everything on the boat is working and we are ready for a good winter hopefully full of trips and fish.

Miami Sport Fishing Report aboard Knot Nancy by

(11/26/2006)
David Larson and his friends Bud, Joe, and Keith from Minnesota fished a three quarter day trip. We were presented with a light north current and wind from the NW/NNW @ 14 - 23 knots. Bait fishing was a snap with the herring at Government Cut being very cooperative. Everyone got in on the action and contributed to filling the livewell.

New Boat - 34 Seavee With Twin Verado's by
Dean Panos
(11/13/2006)
The new boat has arrived. I received my new 34ft SeaVee with twin Verado's late last week. I had the bottom painted this week and did my first trip with it today. The new boat is absolutely great. It is similar to the last one with a few minor changes. The last boat was absolutely great and held up extremely well. This boat will surely do the same if not better. Everything on the boat is new including all the Furuno electronics and a new TR-1 autopilot. The motors are 2007 Mercury Verado 275 HP outboards. These motors are a bit stronger and a bit more fuel efficient than the previous year.

Miami and Key Biscayne Fishing Report by
Gil Gutierrez
(11/13/2006)
Catching sailfish and kingfish on the edge. The title kind of gives you a hint of what has been going on aboard the Lucky27. We have had several cold fronts pass in the past couple of weeks and that has given the fishing the jumpstart we were looking for. As the fronts travel from north to south they push sailfish and other game fish into the warmer waters off the coast of Miami. And with every passing cold front the fishing gets better in Miami.

November Report For Miami Dade County by
Dave Kostyo
(11/13/2006)
November thus far is shaping up into being a very good fishing month. Spanish Mackerel have shown up in the near shore waters. Offshore, we're finding sailfish, kingfish, and dolphin in the 110 - 300 foot range. The winds have been coming from every direction and on most days have been on the light side. Blue water has been on the deep side for the past several days.

November Means Wind and Good Fish by
Bouncer Smith
(11/06/2006)
Boy! November is living up to it's reputation. Winds were calm on the first, then rain on the second. We all know how hard the wind has blown since then. We expect two things in November. One is great fishing and the other is windy weather. The good sailors will catch a lot of great fish.

Fowey Rocks To Offshore Key Biscayne Fishing Report by
J Lopez
(11/03/2006)
Winter fishing is starting to get in full swing. Today we had the pleasure of fishing with ex Marine, Gulf War Veteran, Daniel Garcia. We loaded up on Bait at Bugs Light and decided on heading to Fowey Rocks and start our drifts between 70 and 300 feet. We managed a descent King Mackerel bite early in the morning that lasted till about 10:00 AM. During one of the drifts we possibly lost a Sailfish. After we decided to head north to fish some of the wrecks of Key Biscayne. On the way there we observed a nice rip and managed a small Dolphin.

Day Time Action is Heating Up Off Miami by
Dean Panos

For the past two months I have been mostly swordfishing, and although we have been fishing a little bit in the day as well, the day time action in Miami does not really start to heat up until we have a few cold fronts. Well, we have had a few cold fronts and you can say the action has heated up quite a bit.

Miami Fishing Will Be Picking Up! by

(10/18/2006)
It's been quite a while since my last report. I'm beginning to come out of the summer doldrums period and I'm starting to get booked up in the January through May time frame in 2007. This summer period has seen some very slow fishing. The few trips I have done have been real struggles to catch a few fish out on the reef.

Swordfishing this past week and weekend was on fire. The wind blew from the NE at 15 – 20mph most of the week, but when it calmed down, the fish were out there waiting. There were two swordfish tournaments this past weekend.

Fishing Summer Pattern by

(9/07/2006)
We're still getting through our long, hot, and stormy summer. Fall is just around the corner, however, we still need to get through September. As is usual for me during this part of the year, business is still slow. The fishing is still in it's summer pattern of kingfish, bonito, and barracuda on the reef.

The reports have slowed down as has the fishing business. August is, notoriously, the slowest month of the year both in business and in daytime fishing. The daytime fishing is sporadic at best with the sea temperature approaching the high 80's to 90 degrees.

During the daytime, the main fish out on the reef are going to be kingfish, bonito, and barracuda. Use light tackle for these species and on some days, your arms will ache from fighting so many fish.
