Red fish are all over the back country bays and shorelines, target from Aripeka to Chassahowitzka around creeks and rocky shore lines, look for mullet school red fish love hanging around mullet so they can eat on the crabs, shrimp, and bait fish that the mullet stir up.

We also caught and released numerous Spanish mackerel on fly poppers off of Longboat Key one day.

    [Pagosa Springs] The seasons are changing! Snow in the high country (7 inches at Wolf Creek Ski Area), yellow aspens, red and orange oak brush. This is a great time to be in Pagosa Springs. The day time highs have been in the mid 70's with temps around 38 a night, making for some great sleeping weather. That is good news for the trout. The water temperature has dropped considerably from the highs around 72 degrees only 3 – 4 weeks ago, to between 50 – 60 degrees (depending on elevation).

    [Shell Beach] My buddy Brian and I headed out on a pretty day to put some fish on ice and show him some areas to fish with his son in his boat. We stopped by Campo's for gas and bait then went to the Lake Robin area. The tide was high and falling hard, but the water not very clean. Our first stop produced a few very nice Trout and a couple Drum before the small Trout took over. We made a few moves picking up a few fish at each stop, mostly Trout and Drum.

    [Sarasota] After being away for a couple of weeks on a family vacation and hosting a group of clients on my annual trip to Crane Meadow Lodge in Twin Bridges, Montana, it's good to be back home in Sarasota. As beautiful as it is in many other places, returning to the paradise we live in makes the end of a fishing trip or vacation easier to accept. Late summer is typically a slower time of the year with great fishing!
