[Jones Bluff Lake,AL] Two different approaches to cold water Bass. I hope everyone had a great Christmas,the weather is definitly taylor made for bass fishing.I'm finding fish up shallow and deep so there is a pattern for everyone's taste.The shallow fish are in and out according to the water temp but the deep fish are more stationary.At the risk of being scolded by some of the "Post Vultures" I have been busy taking some of the ESPN competitors out to learn the lake and find fish.

[Weiss Lake,AL] World Famous Weiss Lake Alabama The Crappie Capital of the World and Striper Capital of the South ! The Largmouth are being caught on several patterns. Gravel and rocky secondary points are producing well using crank baits and Rat L Traps. Deeper rocky banks and rip rap with 6 feet of water or more is also producing well on crank baits and jigs. The Spotted Bass have moved up shallow on points, sand bars and shallow humps in the mid to lower lake.

[Guntersville Lake,AL] Edges of grass in 8 to 10 feet of water. Shallow C/B and Fluke over submerged Hydrilla. found a group of good fish in the mid-lake area on a lipless crankbait on Mon. I could only get bit by yo-yoing it at the edge of the grass in 8 to 10 ft.of water.Sat and Mon.

But there are times, like during winter, when a persistent angler can have high hopes of loading the boat or successfully succeed in fooling one of the years biggest spotted bass or largemouth bass.

At times we had as many as 50 bass in a day's time while fishing from shallow to deep water around wood cover, rocks and aquatic weeds on this cover filled Warrior River Lake, Impounded in 1916.

Stroking a 3/8 or 1/2 ounce stanley jig in a crawfish pattern with a Zoom pumpkin seed chunk trailer is working great, crank baits and carolina rigs are working well also.

I have been seeing some spotted bass surface action early in the morning on the old Coosa river channel near Yellow Creek A shallow running crank bait like the new Gizz 4 crank bait from Smack Tackle www.smacktackle.com is working awesome right now !

[Birmingham,AL] I've had lots of phone calls and e-mails this year pertaining to info needed for Demopolis Lake. Many anglers have qualified for an October Bassmasters Tournament scheduled to be held here out of the City of Demopolis this Fall season. Many of these professional bass anglers have never fished Demopolis Lake (now over 52 years since impoundment) and some will have no trouble figuring them out when their tournament takes place.
