[Weiss Lake] World Famous Weiss Lake Alabama The Crappie Capital of the World and Striper Capital of the South ! The Largmouth are being caught on several patterns. Gravel and rocky secondary points are producing well using crank baits and Rat L Traps. Deeper rocky banks and rip rap with 6 feet of water or more is also producing well on crank baits and jigs. The Spotted Bass have moved up shallow on points, sand bars and shallow humps in the mid to lower lake.

Fising Lake Fork Roadbeds With Jigging Spoons by
Jim Reaneau

[Lake Fork] Fishing main lake points, humps and roadbeds with jigging spoons and small jigs. Well, the week has been slow with Christmas right around the corner. Most have shopping on their minds and fishing is way back on the back burner. We have had a mist that lasted about two days but no rain to amount to anything. The lake still is holding about 5.5 low. The water temp has remained at low 50's to the upper 40's. The deep bite has still been my best pattern. Jigging spoons, small jigs, and tail spinners have been the best baits. The shallow bite has been fair on lipless crank baits.

Delaware River Bass Fishing by

[Delaware River] The Belvidere gauge reads 5.3 feet. Water temps average around 42 degrees. We are in the midst of a milder than normal stretch of weather, which bodes really well for the winter bite. Water temps will not respond a great deal due to the low sun angle and cold nights, but anything above normal means fish will still burn calories and need to eat some.

Winter Fishing Lake Fork Over Deep Main Humps by
Jim Reaneau
(2006-12-15 07:07:38)
[Lake Fork] Winter fishing over deep Main humps, roadbeds, and Main Lake Points. The shallow bite was about ¼ the way back in the mouths on main lake creeks. We flipped every piece of wood and it took many flips before you got a bite. Some bites were just mush. You will have to stay in tune with your line. If you are not paying attention you will probably not catch a fish.

[Orlando] Artificial bait bite on Butler Chain is kicking in great. The past week we have spent a few days out on Butler Chain following various bait fish pods and watching the schooling activity in many of the lakes. Schooling fish have been spotted on several of the lakes on the chain with the waters cooled down nicely and still very clean.

[Lake Martin] Anglers visiting Alabama and fishing Logan Martin Lake this winter will discover something lacking in the water. During the winter months of December, January and February they can count on one thing they do not have to decipher to figure out the lakes inhabitants, the largemouth bass. That's fishing the weeds. For there are none.

John Gosselink
(2006-12-09 17:38:38)
[Lake Conroe] Black Bass are feeding in the new grass and cover next to the bank that has grown up while the lake was low and has now filled to pool. The water is clear and the fish move off pretty early to 8 to 11 feet of water. Texas rigged worms in plum, plum/blue, watermelon red and black have been good baits. The fish on the points are on the edge of the hydrilla beds. Shad colored crank bait have proven to be successful on the rocks and along bulkheads.

[Lake Allatoona] Line-sides Fishing is Still Great Guys nothing has change since last week. Keep fishing the same way your have been. Planner Boards and flat lines at sun up and sun down. There are tons of fish between Kellogg Creek and Stamp Creek right now. This is the only part of the lake I have needed to fish in the past 3 weeks. There may be some fish up in Allatoona Creek I just haven't been that far south in weeks.

[Lake Ray Roberts] Well we are at the end of another great year of fishing on Lake Ray Roberts. The lake is currently 8 feet low. The recent rains brought the lake up 6 inches, but the cold fronts have really dropped the water temps. On the main lake we are seeing temps around the mid 50's, but the back of the coves it has been as low as 37 degrees.

[Orlando] Schooling action on Johns Lake has been off and on, but the big gals are biting. We had a pretty good run out on Johns Lake Friday. Kevin from “Ultimate Fishing Site” came to fish Johns Lake and starting the day out was amazed at the schooling action he got to witness. Just as safe light cracked, the bass went to schooling in mass just about everywhere you looked in the Deer Island cut, catching quick bass with the lures he brought with him, the Bite Light Viper and the KickTail XL.

Well, for those of you have not heard, the new dates for the Bassmasters Classic have now been changed to earlier in the year. Much earlier in 2007

[Lake Fork] Winter fishing before a major cold front Patterns and presentations for this type of fishing. Well, it is hard to believe we were in tee shirts yesterday and catching bass right and left. The fish were reacting to the approaching front. We caught all our fish on lipless crank baits from one area about 100 yards long. All this action will vanish as the temp has dropped to the low 30s to the upper 20s.

[Toldeo Bend] The lake is 164.9 ft msl, high pool is 172 ft msl. The water temperature has been gradually falling and is running in the upper 50s. The north end of the main lake is stained with the feeder creeks muddy. The fog has been very thick a few mornings and a good GPS marking your route and fishing holes is a necessity if you get out on the lake in these conditions.

[Orlando] Johns Lake water have cooled to mid 60's during the day and bass are starting to repond better. This past week has been a week of tough bass fishing. With the major cold snap taking its toll on the bite the first part of the week, and the high winds at mid week, fishing SLOW was key to catching bass. Schooling activity on Johns Lake was “ok” at best, with bass feeding up and disappearing just as fast as they surfaced.

[Lake Fork] Fishing Lake Fork After a major cold front. Fishing shallow and deep. Well, the week started out gang busters. We had 42 on Tuesday and I thought the fishing report for the end of the month was on track. It read that the last two weeks of November would be a banner two weeks. Well, Wrong!!!This week was a tough one for me. After all the fish on Tuesday and then the bottom fell out.

[Barkely Lake] Both lakes are 1.5 ft over winter pool. Both lakes went up late last week to 2.5 ft over winter pool because of heavy rains. The lakes are being drawn back down now to winter pool. The bass fishing was pretty good earlier in the week but slowed down over the past two days with flat water, high pressure and blue skies.

Down Lines Are Working Best For Stripers by

[Lake Allatoona] Line side fishing is Very Good right now. The bait is still out over the river channel and so are the fish. Down lines are working best right now. And the fish are deep. The best bite is between 24-40 feet deep. Gizzard shad and threadfins are working best. Mid lake seems to be holding most of the bait and fish right now. But in the next couple of weeks we should start seeing more bait on the south end of the lake and with the bait comes the fish.

Winter Big Bass Fishing on Lake Harris by

[Lake Harris] Anglers from all over Alabama travel the world in search of big, largemouth bass. Really all they have to do is stay right here in Alabama and fish Lake Harris this winter season. Truly big largemouth bass, (many ranging from 10-16 pounds have been taken in years past), they do exist on this lake...a lake many Alabama anglers have never even fished.
