Windy weekend report from the Beach by Rory Rorison (7/23/2007)
[Shell Beach,LA] I had the pleasure of fishing with Jim and his daughter Lauren. Jim fished with me last year and wanted to put Lauren on some Trout and Reds. Since they flew into town and were not interested in keeping much if any fish to take home it was mostly catch and release. They caught a whole lot of fish over the two days and had a great time.

[Shell Beach,LA] The wind made for a lot of missed fish today, but 63 nice Trout from 13”-20”, 6 Sheepshead, and 3 Flounder made it to the box. Tough conditions, but the guys had a great time and caught plenty of fish.

[Shell Beach,LA] Fishing with shrimp under a cork and on the bottom the guys put together a good box of fish with and had a good time doing it. Total catch for the day was 63 Trout with a bunch of Whites and Channels.

[Venice,LA] The B & I Services crew needed a break from working FEMA Disaster Recovery. The group landed plenty of nice dolphin, yellowfin tuna and got a special treat when a 32-foot whale shark decided to swim right to the boat and put it's head above the water.

[Venice,LA] George Layton had often read about the tiny fishing vilage of Venice. On Friday he tried his luck onboard Capt. Bill Delabar's Twin Vee. George and friend Kenny, landed their first yellowfin tuna, first mahi-mahi and FIRST marlin -- all before 2 o'clock! "WHAT A FISHERY!! - We've found fishing nirvana!" the pair stated during the ride back to the dock.

[Shell Beach,LA] By 9:15 there were 75 nice 2-4 pound Trout on ice. We made a stop at a well on the way in to try for a couple Reds. We boated one Red, lost a few others, and also added 7 Sheepshead to the mix.

[Venice,LA] Thirty nine sportfishing boats traversed the turbid Gulf to comptete in the 3rd Annual Cajuns Canyons Billfish Classic. While the anglers complained of bumpy conditions, the fish sure didn't seem to mind!
