[Indian River] Offshore, kingfish will still be consistent along the inshore reefs and wrecks, and they will remain there as long as the water temperature stays above 68 degrees. When targeting kings, focus on bottom structure in the areas of 8A reef, Pelican Flats, and Bethel Shoals to the south.

[Cocoa Beach] Fishing has picked up over the past week. A few schools of good reds are starting to show up as well as a few of our spring trout. The best part has been that the top water bite is starting to turn on. If things keep up the way they are now we are going to be in for a great spring.

[Port St. Lucie] February brings back snook season and great fishing opportunities on the Treasure Coast! Spring is just around the corner! It's time to get out fishing. Can you believe that it is already February here on the Treasure Coast. With still a few cold fronts to blast through the area, it has been a mild winter so far and the fishing along the Indian River.

Surf Fishing Report for East Central Florida by Fish Brevard by

[Port Canaveral] Unusually warm weather is being blamed for the lack of pompano along our area beaches. With the coolest weather to date this winter being back in November, and temperatures typically soaring into the mid-80s, pompano just aren't foraging in the surf like they usually would be this time of year.

Rain, Rain Go Away! by

[Port St. Lucie] Rain, rain go away so we can fish another day!! Wind and rain has been the story of the weather this week on the Treasure Coast. Winds kept many areas out of reach most days. Several days of constant drizzling rain left us waterlogged and wet. We did have a couple of nice days, but the rest were challenging. Looks like we will have similar weather again this week. Keep your rain gear handy!

Sheepshead Are Everywhere! by
Joe Ward
(2007-01-18 09:59:32)
[Fort Pierce] Sheepshead are everywhere and a good trout bite. The weather this week hasn't been perfect for fishing unless you fished on Tuesday which was beautiful. I have been getting good reports of catch and release snook around both the North and South Bridges and along the lighted docks in the Ft. Pierce Inlet. Most anglers have been using small baits like a small greenie, a small pinfish and even small live shrimp.

[Pine Island Sound] I stopped at Shack Baits Monday morning and bought a few dozen hand-picked shrimp, just in case the fish didn't want to eat plastic, again. I also decided to see if I could catch a few shiners at the causeway, even though I wasn't carrying the right net for the job.

Sailfish Bite Is Picking Up Offshore Ft. Pierce by
Joe Ward

[Fort Pierce] Still a strong trout bite inshore and sailfish bite picking up. Since the opening of trout season on January 1st there has been lots of good reports from both north and south in the river. To the South the bite has been from Bear Point down to Blind Creek and to the North it has been from the North Bridge to the Moorings Flats in Vero Beach. Try a live shrimp fished under a popping cork in 1 to 3 feet of water.

Typical Fishing On the Flats! by
Charlie Conner
(2007-01-11 06:09:47)
[Port St. Lucie] Trout fishing on the flats has been great this week on the Treasure Coast! One of our usual cool fronts has worked its way across the Treasure Coast the past few days, bringing cooler night temperatures upon us. It looks like the next week should be great weather for anglers in the area. We will continue to have our normal windy days, but there are plenty of areas to fish out of it. Hope you had a chance to fish this week.

[Pine Island Sound] We were tossing the shrimp and the trust Exude RT Slug, which is usually all you need. But, on this day they weren't interested in anything but those shrimp. I tried rigging them for surface, suspended, and bottom fishing, but we just couldn't get anything to eat them.

[Cocoa Beach] Fishing has still been up and down for the past few weeks but the good news is we have been having more on days then off. We have boated a good number of of slot sized reds which is different for me but great for anyone wanting to take something home. We are seeing a few fish in the 30 pound range but most of them have been extremely spooky.

Trout Season Opens With Hungry Fish On The Flats by
Charlie Conner
(2007-01-07 17:25:18)
[Port St. Lucie] Trout season re-opens with hungry fish on the flats....Trout season re-opened on January 1st. Trout have started biting around the flats in 2 - 4 feet of water. They have been pretty aggressive this week for us. The sun has kept the water on the flats warmer for now. Top water in early morning, followed by soft baits, twitch baits or live shrimp will help find some trout cruising the area. Find the cleaner water to find the trout.

Opening Of Trout Season Fishing Report by
Joe Ward
(2007-01-04 19:34:42)
[Fort Pierce] The opening of trout season has been slow. The inshore reports have been slow coming in this past week. With the opening of trout season the best bite has been along the docks along North and South Indian River Drive. From dark to daylight try free lining a live shrimp. This has been working the best this past week. The redfish have pushed in close to the mangroves -- try using a soft plastic baits or a live shrimp.

[Baffin Bay] Those out there who think that February thru April is the only "trophy trout season" over here in the Baffin/ULM system, consider my numbers for the month of December. I fished twelve times, five of which were half-day or shorter outings on which I went scouting. Caught 30 trout over 25 inches, 13 of those over 27 inches and 8 of those 13 over 7 pounds.
