[Sarasota] Anglers fishing Sarasota Bay with me on my Action Craft flats skiff the Snook Fin-Addict, out of CB's Saltwater Outfitters on Siesta Key, caught and released silver and spotted sea trout, snook and reds on flies and jigs during the past couple of weeks. Although silver trout are often found in deeper areas along beaches and in dredge holes or channels in bays, we have been catching them consistently at the Marina Jack flat, which is a deep grass flat close to Big Pass.

[Pagosa Springs] Today we went to Navajo Reservoir. It was snowing and blowing up to 20 mph at 8:00 am, but we had a plan, and stuck to it. Even with the tough weather, one of our main goals was to see how some of our new Tarpon flies were swimming.

[Pine Island Sound] As the waters continue to warm around Pine Island huge bait schools are invading the inshore waters and flats. A combination of warm water and oily baitfish, plus spring tides can really get the bite going.

[Shell Beach] I had the pleasure of fishing with the Matt Fontane group. On my boat I had Matt and his wife Lisa, along with two of their kids Lidia and Pierson. Capt. Frank ran the rest of the group consisting of Brandon, Devon, Lee, Rebecca, and Alex. Conditions were not so good that morning. A front blew through the night before and the wind made it too rough to get outside to the Reds and Heads we have been on. Good thing was the water had not all blown out.

[Pagosa Springs] Last week's warm temperatures broke all the ice on the upper San Juan River and the flows went from 150 cfs to 850 cfs this morning. Run – off is starting. As the lakes start to lose their ice, the fishing should be good on them.
